Bordeaux, an attractive destination and committed to sustainability

Bordeaux is a multifaceted city that is both attractive and committed, thanks to the diverse experiences it offers and its dynamism.

As part of our constant commitment to improving the quality of our hospitality and raising awareness on all sides about the importance of sustainable development, we as a destination provide 360° support to help organisers make their events more sustainable and responsible, as well as overseeing the green transition of our services as a whole.

Supporting the transformation of the events industry in our territory :

In adopting this collaborative approach, Bordeaux Tourism and Bordeaux Métropole are working to co-construct the tourism and events sector of the future, putting sustainability at the heart of everything we do. This work is enshrined in our road map - “Building a responsible tourism destination together” - whose first priority is to support local professionals with their role in the transition: education on sustainable practices, how to draft a CSR charter etc. We are now entering into phase two of the strategy, helping members to attain environmental certifications. Partners can turn to our sustainable development team for help applying for the various certifications available for their activities : différentes certifications adaptées à leurs activités : ISO 20121, Green Key, Eco-table, Lucie Progress, etc..

Helping organisers to ensure that their events leave a lasting legacy for our territory

Working closely with local events firms and service providers, as well as event organisers, Bordeaux Convention Bureau and the Sustainable Development team have developed tailor-made support through:

1- Robust, up-to-date resources

Need tailor-made support? The team can advise you on a directory of sustainable solutions, including 125 local initiatives to reduce your environmental footprint, ideas for CSR activities, and partnerships (whether material, skills or financial) to leave a local legacy.

2- Practical tools accessible to all

Need a summary document to refer to at every stage of the organization? The practical guide "Organize your event in Bordeaux in 10 key steps" and its two checklists will help you organize your positive-impact event!

3- Bespoke advice and a continuous improvement pathway tailored to the time available and organisers’ degree of CSR awareness

Event organizers can take advantage of a free e-learning course entitled "Organizing a positive-impact professional event". Contact Elsa Bréchotte [email protected] to obtain your login and password.

From briefing to event organization, our teams offer not only advice on logistical aspects, but also free personalized support to help reduce the environmental impact of the event and make a social or environmental contribution to the region in line with the structure's CSR.O* values.
