Business Tourism Barometer: 1st Half of 2025
First Half of 2025 Results: A Mixed Dynamic
Although the number of events hosted, 1,820 in the first half of the year, shows a slight decline compared to 2024 (1,843), and the number of participants dropped significantly (-21%), the number of congress days increased, reaching 325,000 (+3.8%). In other words, events are lasting longer, compensating for the drop in attendance, with an estimated economic impact of €121 million. However, this positive outcome must be nuanced: the economic context remains challenging, and in many venues, spending on services (catering, audiovisual, agencies, decoration, etc.) is tending to decrease in favor of “dry” room rentals. Every possible saving, even minor, is being sought.
The gap between event types is widening: 57% of participants attended corporate events, compared to 43% for congresses and trade shows. This is due to 2025 being a year with fewer large-scale congresses and trade shows (+1,500 participants), as a result of the natural rotation cycles of such events.
