Ryanair to open new base in Bordeaux in 2019
From April 2019, the Bordeaux-Mérignac airport will host a new Ryanair base with two aircrafts and 24 routes, including 16 new ones, connecting Bordeaux to 10 countries.
70 weekly flights will be ensured by this new base which represents a $200m investment (about €173m) for the company.
The flights are already open for booking. The 16 new routes will connect Bordeaux to Bari, Cologne Bonn, Copenhagen, Dublin, Fez, Krakow, Manchester, Marrakech, Marseille, Mykonos, Ouarzazate, Tangier, Nantes, Naples, Valencia and Venice Treviso.
David O’Brien, Ryanair’s Chief Commercial Officer, is “pleased to open a new French base in Bordeaux. Our growth will deliver 1.1m customers p.a. at Bordeaux Airport, while creating 60 Ryanair jobs and supporting over 850 ancillary jobs in the region”.
This new base results in an important gain of attractiveness for the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region and reflects a close cooperation, in the long term, between Ryanair and the Bordeaux-Mérignac airport.
