Mercure Bordeaux Centre's CSR commitment
Mercure Bordeaux Centre is focused on continuing its CSR policy and was awarded the Green Key Label at the beginning of 2024, the first international label in tourism for the hospitality industry and restaurants.
Our teams are very proud to have been awarded such a label that values all the actions implemented several years ago.
We have been assessed on 120 criteria, split on several topics such as energy, water or waste management, but also on our environmental and social policy or raising our client’s awareness on these sensitive topics.
Topics such as waste recycling or technical innovations have been at the center of our concerns for years, in the scope of controlling our water and energy consumption.
With this label, we want to lead our teams to consider a more sustainable and responsible approach of our activity through the implementation of tangible and measurable actions such as :
- The withdrawal of single-use plastic items from our guest rooms, restaurant and meeting rooms;
- The Implementation of an environmental charter sent to our clients and collaborators;
- The creation of communication supports (display, website, brochures) in order to increase the awareness of our clients on the green gesture, nearby public transports of the protected natural areas located near the hotel;
- The installation of equipment inside the property in order to limit energy waste
- The addition of organic and/ or fair-trade products in our restaurant offer and the valuation of short circuits and local producers;
On a social scale, Mercure Bordeaux Centre also decided to go further and to implement two major projects:
- Since October 2023, we encourage our clients to decline the daily cleaning service of their room. As a counterpart, we commit to pay 3€ to the ODP Association in favor of the French firemen’s orphans. In 5 months, more than 2 100€ have been collected.
- Also, we entrusted the creation of our rooms’ welcome boxes to an ESAT located in Floirac, an institution that help the brain damaged people with their professional reintegration. For each order, up to 5 persons help us with creating and assembling these boxes.
Each year, the Green Key Label requires the implementation of new daily tangible and impacting projects. They come along with regular auditing in order to assess the seriousness of the hotel’s actions.
Our teams strongly and proudly show a daily commitment and will keep on doing so in order to offer our clients an unforgettable experience based on a sustainable, ecological and socially responsible tourism.
