Following events for the wood and robotics sectors, neuroscience and laser optics & photonics take the stage

To promote the attractiveness of the region, support applications from Bordeaux for the organisation of major events and foster a legacy of business opportunities, two new reports on excellence sectors are currently in progress. In May and November 2021, we presented the first two opuses on the wood & forestry and robotics sectors.

The Bordeaux Convention Bureau met researchers from Bordeaux Neurocampus in order to produce the news reports on the sectors of excellence. At the forefront of research on the brain and its pathologies, Bordeaux Neurocampus is one of the very first European centres for research in neuroscience, from the molecular level to the patient, and has 6 research units. The report will address several topics including a focus on training: Bordeaux currently has 140 master's students and 140 doctoral students. It will also contain a focus on research and an axis on the industrial field with startups: Treefrog, Rebrain. It will appear in the spring of 2022.

Finally, the 4th report will focus on oncology and the Bergonié Institute. Whether in clinical, technological, biological, epidemiological research or in the human and social sciences, the institute works every day to advance medicine and more particularly cancerology and oncology. It contributes to enriching the ecosystem that has been created between hospitals, laboratories, and companies established in the territory, which participate in developing this sector of excellence.

Sectors of excellence are also promoted thanks to the Bordeaux Ambassadors Club. Created in 2007, this program initiated by the Bordeaux Convention Bureau has now more than 380 members from the scientific and university spheres of Bordeaux. It offers the possibility of putting in touch local representatives with national or international associations wishing to organize an event in the region.
