Bordeaux, your destination of choice for inspiring events

In Bordeaux, we are here to help you make your events more responsible and sustainable than ever!

As part of our constant commitment to improving the quality of our hospitality and raising awareness on all sides about the importance of sustainable development, we as a destination provide 360° support to help organisers make their events more sustainable and responsible, as well as overseeing the green transition of our services as a whole.

Supporting the transformation of the events industry in our territory :

In adopting this collaborative approach, Bordeaux Tourism and Bordeaux Métropole are working to co-construct the tourism and events sector of the future, putting sustainability at the heart of everything we do. This work is enshrined in our road map - “Building a responsible tourism destination together” - whose first priority is to support local professionals with their role in the transition: education on sustainable practices, how to draft a CSR charter etc. We are now entering into phase two of the strategy, helping members to attain environmental certifications. Partners can turn to our sustainable development team for help applying for the various certifications available for their activities : différentes certifications adaptées à leurs activités : ISO 20121, Green Key, Eco-table, Lucie Progress, etc..

Helping organisers to ensure that their events leave a lasting legacy for our territory

Working closely with local events firms and service providers, as well as event organisers, Bordeaux Convention Bureau and the Sustainable Development team have developed tailor-made support through:

  • 1- Robust, up-to-date resources

This guide showcases local solutions and initiatives which can help to reduce your carbon footprint, as well as CSR ideas and charity partners (for donations of materials, skills or money) to create a lasting legacy for the local area.

  • 2- Practical tools accessible to all

For example, the guide 'Organizing Your Event with a Positive Impact' highlights the 10 key steps through best practices, a toolbox, and local contacts. Find it online.

  • 3- Bespoke advice and a continuous improvement pathway tailored to the time available and organisers’ degree of CSR awareness

Events organisers will access the micro training programmes "Organizing a professional event with a positive impact". From the initial brief through to the delivery of the event, our teams provide more than just logistical advice. They can offer free, tailored guidance on how to limit the environmental impact of your event while making a positive social or environmental contribution to the local territory, in keeping with your CSR values. "Don't wait any longer to organize your
socially responsible event; in Bordeaux, we are here to assist you!"
