A Constantly evolving, ecologically driven hotel sector

Last year saw more significant improvements in the city’s hotel offering. Hotel Burdigala***** reopened for business in Spring 2023, following a comprehensive renovation. Meanwhile, out by the airport, Novotel Bordeaux reopened after refurbishment and the new Sheraton**** was inaugurated in January 2023.

The rapidly developing business district around the train station welcomed the arrival of JOST, a lifestyle-oriented hotel complete with cabaret capable of hosting events for up to 100 participants. Elsewhere, the Hyatt group chose Bordeaux for the first hotel in its First Name**** range, a new address in the city’s Meriadeck district which boasts an original central space designed in the speakeasy style.

In the Autumn, Mercure Bordeaux Cité Mondiale became Hôtel Indigo****, complete with in-house restaurant Le Tchanqué. The style here is seaside chic, inspired by the Bassin d’Arcachon, while the hotel also offers meeting rooms ranging from 20 to 58m².

The latest arrival on the scene, opening in November 2023, is Mondrian Bordeaux Hôtel des Carmes*****, designed by Philippe Starck and located in the city’s popular Chartrons district. This new offering has 97 rooms and suites, a bar-restaurant, a spa, two meeting rooms and a stunning 250m² outdoor terrace.

Out in the heart of Bordeaux’s historic vineyards, Château Léognan***** has 51 bedrooms. In nearby Cognac, meanwhile, Chais Monnet***** has 92 rooms and suites.

Committed to a high-quality, sustainable hotel sector

As part of our shared commitment to quality, Bordeaux’s hotel operators and the Bordeaux Tourism & Convention Board have signed up to a Hoteliers’ Charter with a special focus on large-scale professional events.

Collectively, the signatories to this charter account for over 7500 rooms. The goal of the charter is to put in place an attractive accommodation policy for big professional events, providing customers with a coherent and consolidated package which cements Bordeaux’s reputation as an accessible destination offering high-quality, forward-thinking services.

By 2023, we’ll be supporting 182 companies in their responsible transition, and nearly 40 hotels will have been awarded the Green Key label.

Why was the hotel charter created?

As part of their ongoing commitment to quality hospitality, Bordeaux's hoteliers have joined forces with Bordeaux Tourisme & Congrès to host major professional events, by signing a charter of hotel commitments.

Bordeaux Tourisme, through its Convention Bureau (BCB) and the Club Hôtelier Bordeaux Métropole (CHBM), co-signatories of the charter representing the collective of member hoteliers, to date 100 hotels and hotel residences of all categories, representing over 7,500 rooms.

What are the main issues involved?

The Hotel Charter applies exclusively to “rotating” professional events of over 500 overnight stays on at least one night, involving reservations at several hotels and organized by non-profit organizers (learned societies, federations, professional associations, etc.) or private-sector companies.

Its objectives are to formalize an attractive location policy for major professional events, provide end customers with a coherent, consolidated offer to facilitate their access to the destination, and guarantee a long-term portfolio of events.

The signing of this charter seals the shared determination of hoteliers, the CHBM and Bordeaux Tourisme & Congrès to welcome even more large-scale national and international events to Bordeaux in the best possible conditions.
