Slow tourism in Saint-Emilion

For 20 years, Saint-Emilion and its vineyards have been listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites: a strong motivation to turn to sustainable tourism.

Listed as World Heritage site for 20 years, the Jurisdiction of Saint-Emilion welcomes nearly one million visitors each year. For more than ten years, the various institutional actors have chosen to promote the development of eco-responsible activities in the region in order to limit the impact of tourism on the environment.

The Tourist Office was the first to promote "slow tourism" by making bicycles available all year long to visitors; and this has been the case for more than 15 years. The creation of hiking loops - on foot and by bike - by the Tourist Office guides in French and English is part of the green-discovery of the territory.

Over the years, various partners have been added to this sustainable offer. Tuk-tuk and electric bicycles, horse or donkey rides, canoeing, etc.: these varied and ecological initiatives allow all types of visitors to discover the Great Saint-Émilion region on a daily basis.
