Health & security measures

All the COVID-19 measures and recommendations to plan your events in Bordeaux.

Due to the current situation, exceptional measures have been put in place to avoid the spread of the coronavirus over the following months.

Meetings up to 1,000 people are prohibited. For these events, only seated catering is allowed.

Leisure facilities, such as casinos, parks, beaches, museums, wellness facilities but also restaurants, hotels and venues are now open, also in appliance with strict health and safety measures (as mentioned below).

From June 15, people from European countries (Member States of the European Union as well as Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, San Marino, Switzerland and Vatican) are able to enter French territory without restrictions. Some airlines can ask for a test if you come from a high-risk area.

Bordeaux Airport is currently preparing for the gradual resumption of air traffic. In the airport, passengers are asked to observe the safety distance of 1 metre and to wear a facemask in any parts of airport terminal buildings as well as on any airport buses and shuttle. All flights are operated from Hall A.

As for the train, travel restrictions are now lifted. To allow you to travel in complete safety, SNCF has continued to implement exceptional and reinforced health measures in stations and on board trains in accordance with government directives.

Social distancing and the facemask are compulsory for those over 11 years of age on all public transport. Traffic is normal on the bus and tram network in the metropole.

A national protocol implements health and safety measures for each sector of the events and tourism industry. We have compiled them all to ensure that all our partners have the complete information needed.

It includes recommendations on:

  • the use of prevention, protection, cleaning and disinfection equipments
  • a specific procedure for cleaning and disinfecting
  • easy-to-apply protective measures (social distancing of 1 meter between people, use of facemasks, to wash hands frequently with soap or disinfect them with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer, to cough or sneeze into a single-use paper handkerchief or into the crook of an elbow).
  • team trainings
  • a specific procedure in case of suspected contamination

The use of facemark is compulsory in enclosed public areas, in companies and in Bordeaux city centre.

Bordeaux Events has established a set of sanitary rules and guidelines for hosting your events at their 5 venues (Exhibition Centre, Palais 2 l'Atlantique, Congress Centre, Cité Mondiale Convention Centre, Hangar 14).

The International Association of Convention Centres (AIPC), the Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) and the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) have edited a guide to help convention and exhibition centres, event and congress organizers prepare for a smooth, safe reopening of business.

People who have travelled in high-risk areas are asked to remain vigilant about any eventual symptoms. It is advisable to check your temperature twice a day. It is necessary to self-quarantine if you have been in contact with someone who has already been infected by the virus.

If you have temperature or feel feverish, have a cough or finding difficult breathing: quickly contact the SAMU on 15 (French emergency medical services) indicating your recent journey or 112. Do not immediately go to the doctor’s or to the hospital. You can also contact the information line of the ministry on 0800 130 000 (free call).

We have created an online collaborative platform in which hotels fill their occupancy rates for 2020 and 2021. Venues and congress centres can consult this platform in real time and postpone events accordingly.
