2019-2023: Extension of Bordeaux airport
New international jetty, extension of "Billi" low cost terminal...Major construction plan has started at Bordeaux-Merignac airport
Bordeaux Airport launches the first major construction project of its new investment plan. It will help structuring its evolution and strengthening its economic impact.
The airport will then be able to welcome 10 million passengers per year in 2023, compared to 6.8 million in 2018. 10,000 jobs should also be created thanks to this investment strategy of 140 million € over the 2019-2023 periode.
The 2019-2023 plan will include the construction of 3 large infrastructures devoted to the transit of passengers:
- "Satellite 3", the new international jetty in Hall A:
The construction of the jetty will start in April 2019, for a delivery by 2020. It will increase the global capacity of the airport and facilitate international flows within Hall A. This new High Environmental Quality building will also allow simultaneous transfer of passengers from its four departure lounges, from landing towards checkpoints, up to 3 million people per year.
- Resizing the parking offer:
The extension of the P4 long-term car park (+900 spots) and a completely renovated P1/P2 car park with a significantly higher level of service is planned. It includes dynamic display of free spaces, automatic opening for online reservation and subscription etc.
- The extension and complete reconfiguration of the low-cost billi terminal:
As of spring 2019, the opening of an intermediate worksite to extend the entire deposit, check-in, routing and control chain for hold baggage will start.
- Overall improvement of airport accessibility:
Opening of the Technobus lane in 2019 and the Tramway in 2021.
- A large terminal connecting Halls A and B:
Extension of the boarding, waiting and shopping areas offering a new experience to passengers by the end of 2023.
